Round-up campaign to empower change

What do submarine sandwiches and the District 230 Foundation have in common? They both believe in helping all Carl Sandburg Eagles, Amos Alonzo Stagg Chargers and Victor J. Andrew T-Bolts. Beginning Monday, November 18, through December 20, diners at the new Peppo’s Sub Shop at 9386 W. 159th St., in Orland Park can “round up” their bill to the nearest dollar for donations that will help empower change.

Peppo’s, which is co-owned by Matt Giermala, Matt Ginnetti and Nick Roupas, is collecting donations through a roundup campaign. All donations will go directly to the District 230 Foundation to help support teacher grants and senior scholarships.

The District 230 Foundation is a partnership between community volunteers and school leaders to provide educational opportunities and services for students beyond what the typical budget can fund. The Foundation provides grants that bring teachers' creative ideas to life for students, as well as scholarships to graduating seniors from Sandburg, Stagg, and Andrew High Schools.

Co-Owner Giermala said, “We are so grateful for the education provided by District 230; this roundup campaign is a great way to give back. The students at all three schools deserve every opportunity, and if we can help the teachers bring those opportunities to life, we want to be a part of that.”

Foundation Board President Ann Oliver said, “The District 230 Foundation is so thankful to Peppo’s. It’s only through community partnerships like this round up campaign that we can fulfill our mission to help every District 230 student.”

The campaign runs through December 20 at the Peppo’s at 9386 W. 159th St., in Orland Park.
