Through the Foundation, the administrators of District 230 formally recognize one senior at each campus who:

  • Approaches academics with an open mind and rises to the challenge of the highest standards of excellence.

  • Represents the very best that their school has to offer through co-curricular involvement and achievement.

  • Demonstrates leadership in representing their fellow students, their school, and their community.

In appreciation for the exemplary work of our students, a recipient from each school is awarded a $2,500 scholarship. Congratulations to these D230 Foundation Administrative Scholarship Winners.

Adunola Ogedengbe - Sandburg High School 2025

Distinguished, well-rounded, talented, humble, and a leader among her peers. Adunola Ogedengbe is a portrait of an exceptional student. She is an endless seeker of knowledge, which can assuredly be attributed to her desire and passion for learning. Teachers would say that Adunola elevates those around her. She is a natural-born leader in both the classroom and outside of the classroom.  Her impressive academic accomplishments include AP Scholar with Distinction, Top 7 finish in state for HOSA, the International Leadership Initiatives Global Fundraising award, and National College Board African-American Recognition. Adunola’s co-curricular record is equally impressive: Student Council Senior Class President, Med Club, Black Student Union, Cultural Connections, ACEs, Superintendent’s Advisory AND numerous others. Adunola is the President of Sandburg Model UN and she holds the Sandburg record for “1st place gavels.” Her advocacy also helped start the D230 Board Committee Student Representative program. Adunola will attend Brown University to pursue a career in medicine.

Ameera Zaied - Stagg High School 2025

A quiet leader, well-spoken, exceptionally bright, and tremendously talented, Ameera Zaied is a Charger through and through. She epitomizes the District 230 motto of leadership, innovation, and empathy. Her academic achievements are as extraordinary as her co-curricular accomplishments. A perfect 36 on the ACT, top 1% of her class, National Merit Commended student, AP Scholar award winner, and National Honor Society vice president, Ameera is among the top of her class.  Her impressive work experience includes serving as a PEOPEL partner and Charger Learning Center tutor. She has amassed more than 100 hours of community service, many of those spent at the Orland Township Food Pantry managing inventory and maintaining records of incoming and outgoing supplies. She serves on the Board of Education Student Support and Development Committee as well as on the Principal’s and Superintendent’s Advisory Committees. She is the co-president of CORE - the Cancer Outreach, Resources and Education club, award-winning captain of the Debate Team, and a conference-champ of Mathletes. She has yet to finalize her post-Stagg plans, but is leaning toward Harvard and pre-law.

Thomas “Thano” Fefles - Andrew High School 2025

From a shy freshman to a confident senior, Thomas “Thano” Fefles has invested his time and talents in Andrew High School, and his impact can be felt throughout the walls and halls of our school. He has been heavily involved in several extracurricular activities, including clubs, sports, and theater performances. As a freshman, he co-founded Greek Club, which helped bring him closer to his culture, as well as allowing his culture to grow at VJA. Additionally, he is part of Project Diversity, German Club, and German National Honor Society. He serves as President of the National Honor Society, Vice President of T-Bolt Storm, and is a member of Student Council, Variety Show, Sports Medicine Club, VALT, ACES, and Senior Leaders. Thano plays soccer and volleyball and is a peer tutor in The Center.  He is a two-time IHSSCA All-Sectional All-Academic Awardee, a three-time Ehrenurkunde winner, which is given to German students who obtain a grade of 95% or higher, and is an AP Scholar with Distinction award winner. After Thano crosses the stage at graduation, he plans to attend the University of Notre Dame, where he will major in Global Affairs and German, and minor in European Studies. His long-term goal is to either become a diplomat or ambassador for the United States in a European nation, or go to UCLA Law School and become an International Lawyer.
