Once graduated from Andrew High School, Elizabeth Yakes attended Case Western Reserve University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and her Master’s Degree in Public Health Nutrition. She then went on to earn her Doctoral degree in Epidemiology with a concentration in pediatric and prenatal epidemiology from the University of California, Davis. Yakes has been a teacher, Editor-In-Chief, Nutritionist and Graduate Fellow, Researcher and much more. She has volunteered as a diabetes education, a nutrition consultant at a Women’s Refuge and has held the post of Education and Public Relations Coordinator for “CROP Walk for Hunger” in California. Her hands-on research on the nutritional effect of maternal women in Bangladesh and her research with large nutritional intervention in West Africa shows how she puts her talents for the betterment of others.

ABOUT US 

The District 230 Foundation is a partnership between community volunteers and school leaders to provide educational opportunities and services for students beyond what the typical budget can fund. The Foundation provides grants that bring teachers' creative ideas to life for students, as well as scholarships to graduating seniors from Sandburg, Stagg and Andrew High Schools. The District 230 Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; contributions are tax-deductible in accordance with the law.
