After attending Sandburg, and living for several years on the north side after college, Viero and her husband decided to move to Beverly, where she is originally from. From the time they arrived in 2002, Mary Jo has been active in fostering community-based organizations. She earned her Bachelors degree in Public Speaking from Eastern Illinois University and used her skills as a college recruiter and motivational speaker. She then enjoyed a career in sales, working for Irwin Publishing and Tab Products. When her son was born, she changed her focus to charitable work that has made an impact in her community. While raising her son, she worked as a volunteer at St. Barnabas School. She has taken a lead role in developing and growing important fund-raising events, coordinating the school's annual art fair, and conceptualizing and implementing activities that promote community/parish connections. She now serves the Beverly Area Planning Association as Community Organizer and is working to reinvigorate Civic and Homeowner Associations, reaching out to the area businesses to strengthen relationships.
