Mary Ann Tolan is a 1979 graduate of Sandburg and has built a remarkable career in business, healthcare innovation, and is a generous philanthropist, civic supporter, and mentor. Tolan began her career at Accenture, where she rose to become Group Chief Executive of a $2.3 billion global operating group. She later founded Accretive Health, now known as R1 RCM. She led the company from startup to a billion-dollar public company, serving as both CEO and Board Chair. She is the co-founder and Managing Partner of Chicago Pacific Founders, a private equity firm that advances healthcare solutions while lowering costs. Tolan’s compassion and generosity connect her to her community. She has supported a wide range of causes, including healthcare, education, youth development, and local community programming. She is a consistent and generous supporter of nonprofit organizations, scholarship programs, and community initiatives. An alumna of Loyola University Chicago and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, she serves on the boards of both universities. In 2025, Tolan pledged $12 million to establish the Tolan Center for Healthcare at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business, supporting students and research in healthcare innovation. Her groundbreaking professional accomplishments and unwavering commitment to community and good government embody the values of District 230.
