Dr. Keith Thraen-Borowski has proven himself to be a lifelong learner and an asset to many communities, specifically in the field of cancer research. After earning a degree in Kinesiology from Illinois State University, Dr. Thraen-Borowski began his career at the Michigan Heart and Vascular Institute. Soon after, he went on to spend 7 years with DuPage Medical Group, starting as the Lead Clinical Exercise Physiologist where he launched the first fully integrative Wellness Program in DuPage County. That led him to become the Practice Manager for Wellness Programming. Now an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Kinesiology & Biology at Loras College, Dr. Thraen-Borowski is also the Director of the CARES Lab – Cancer Research in Exercise Science – where their research agenda focuses on the role of physical activity in cancer survivorship. He is the founder and organizer of the world's largest Exercise Oncology-specific conference to date (ExOncTC) and has won the American College of Sports Medicine's Cancer Interest Group Research Award twice.

ABOUT US 

The District 230 Foundation is a partnership between community volunteers and school leaders to provide educational opportunities and services for students beyond what the typical budget can fund. The Foundation provides grants that bring teachers' creative ideas to life for students, as well as scholarships to graduating seniors from Sandburg, Stagg and Andrew High Schools. The District 230 Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; contributions are tax-deductible in accordance with the law.
