When Gus Tai graduated from Stagg High School in 1982, he was the first student in district history to earn a perfect score on the college entrance exam. He also earned a scholarship at Harvard University where he studied applied math and became a member of the Glee Club and Harvard International Review. He went on to earn a master degree in Material Science and Engineering from M.I.T. and a M.B.A. from the M.I.T. Sloan School of Management. He also is an M.I.T. Leaders for Manufacturing Fellow. Tai worked in the Silicon Valley where he began his operational career in engineering management at Digital Equipment Corporation. Today, he is General Partner at Trinity Ventures. As a venture capitalist, he specializes in funding early-stage companies and in particular enjoys helping entrepreneurs at the time of company formation.

ABOUT US 

The District 230 Foundation is a partnership between community volunteers and school leaders to provide educational opportunities and services for students beyond what the typical budget can fund. The Foundation provides grants that bring teachers' creative ideas to life for students, as well as scholarships to graduating seniors from Sandburg, Stagg and Andrew High Schools. The District 230 Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; contributions are tax-deductible in accordance with the law.
