During his time at Andrew High School, Mike Sutter was involved in swimming, wrestling, soccer and football. His true love, however, was Judo. He competed on the state, national and international levels. After graduating high school, he served in the United States Army. He received many honors such as the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Achievement Medal (five-time recipient) and many, many more. On December 26th, 2004, Sergeant Michael Sutter was carrying out one of the most dangerous missions of any member of the Armed Forces. In Baghdad, as a member of the 741st Ordnance Company, he was fatally wounded while neutralizing two powerful explosives.

ABOUT US 

The District 230 Foundation is a partnership between community volunteers and school leaders to provide educational opportunities and services for students beyond what the typical budget can fund. The Foundation provides grants that bring teachers' creative ideas to life for students, as well as scholarships to graduating seniors from Sandburg, Stagg and Andrew High Schools. The District 230 Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; contributions are tax-deductible in accordance with the law.
