Matt Schinske

As Student Council President at Andrew High School in 2003, Matt Schinske was known to look out for the best interest of his fellow students and the staff at the school. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Administration from Lewis University and becoming a FAA Rated private pilot in 2009. Following graduation, Matt traveled the world and helped many in need. He began as a Volunteer Coordinator at Common Ground Relief in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. He then volunteered in U.S. Peace Corps in Mali, West Africa assisting in the Water and Sanitation Sector. For two years Matt lived in huts without any modern conveniences including no water or electricity. He helped to vaccinate 250 children against Polio. Matt returned to the United States where he serves a Head Organizer for Child Care Providers of Illinois Union at SEIU Healthcare Illinois.

ABOUT US 

The District 230 Foundation is a partnership between community volunteers and school leaders to provide educational opportunities and services for students beyond what the typical budget can fund. The Foundation provides grants that bring teachers' creative ideas to life for students, as well as scholarships to graduating seniors from Sandburg, Stagg and Andrew High Schools. The District 230 Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; contributions are tax-deductible in accordance with the law.
