Thomas Pukstys

Tom Pukstys is known to be an outstanding individual and athlete not only to the Stagg community but the world as well. He was an excellent track and field participant and through personal dedication and hard work he became a member of the 1992 and 1996 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Teams. He ranked fifth in the world in the javelin throw. He went on to earn his degree from the University of Florida studying Public Relations and continued his javelin training. He broke his first American record in June 1993. Pukstys was the top U.S. javelin thrower for nearly a decade before retiring in 2004. He is an active member of Stagg by establishing the Olympic Spirit Award at Stagg after being impressed by a Stagg football player who, while not a starter, gave it his best effort to help the team on and off the field.
