Katie O'Sullivan, M.D.

After graduating from Andrew High School in 2001, Dr. Katie O'Sullivan graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame, where she was the head drum major of the marching band. She pursued medical training at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, where she graduated near the top of her class. She then pursued training in both pediatrics and internal medicine at the University of California San Diego, before returning home to complete a dual fellowship in both adult and pediatric endocrinology at the University of Chicago. As one of only approximately thirty combined board-certified adult and pediatric endocrinologists in the United States, Dr. O'Sullivan is uniquely positioned to care for all patients with endocrine problems, from infancy to end-of-life. With this expertise, as an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago, she earned a reputation for caring for adolescent and young adult patients with complex endocrine problems. Twice a week, she sees patients at the UChicago Orland Park outpatient center, where she often cares for D230 students and alumni as well as current and former teachers. She has shared that caring for the community she grew up in is both a privilege and a source of great joy. In addition to seeing patients, Dr. O'Sullivan is a preceptor for University of Chicago Pritzker Medical students, is a co-director for the 1st year medical students' curriculum on endocrinology, and teaches several lectures each year for medical students, residents, and fellows at the University of Chicago. She is a member of the national professional organizations, the Endocrine Society and Pediatric Endocrine Society (PES), and is the former chair of the PES subcommittee for medical student and resident education. Dr. O'Sullivan has written several papers on her area of expertise, and continues to do clinical and quality improvement research. Her professional achievements, unwavering commitment to patient care, and dedication to education and research exemplify what it means to lead a life of service and impact.
