Kate Morris' dedication to young people is founded in the Erin E. Olmsted Memorial Scholarship.
Erin, Kate's sister, lost her life in March 1997 due to an intoxicated driver. Erin was a four-year varsity letter winner in Gymnastics at Sandburg and was also the 1996-97 team captain. She was a loving daughter, sister and friend to many.
As a result, Kate founded the Erin E. Olmsted Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is offered to seniors at Carl Sandburg High School and over the past 16 year has awarded $45,000 to scholarship recipients. Kate has also worked alongside AAIM, the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists by speaking on Victim Impact Panels at high schools, universities and courthouses.
She is an executive board member of Erin's AAIM for Change 5k run/walk that is held every September. The money raised through this event is used for scholarships.
