In high school, Cassandra Moran was awarded a scholarship to an international conference for high school students at the University of Wisconsin, from the Orland Park Rotary. While there, she found herself in a highly emotional session on the Middle East crisis. On the spot she organized an impromptu debate between the Israelis and Arabs who argued passionately for their beliefs. After graduating from Georgetown University, she studied at the University of Leningrad. She used her knowledge of Russia to create educational travel programs for Smithsonian Associates, Stanford alumnae and other groups, leading tours through the Soviet Union. She has served on many committees suck as Palos-Orland Conservation Committee, Sears-Adams House Committee, Chargrin Falls Committee and has received many awards for her outstanding writing.

ABOUT US 

The District 230 Foundation is a partnership between community volunteers and school leaders to provide educational opportunities and services for students beyond what the typical budget can fund. The Foundation provides grants that bring teachers' creative ideas to life for students, as well as scholarships to graduating seniors from Sandburg, Stagg and Andrew High Schools. The District 230 Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; contributions are tax-deductible in accordance with the law.
