Stagg High School graduate TJ McFarland was a four-year member of the Charger's baseball team. He was an All-State athlete his senior year posting 103 strikeouts and walking only 13 in 66 and two-thirds innings pitched. To this day, TJ holds many Stagg records including an ERA of 0.73 during his senior season. In addition to baseball, he was a member of the basketball progrqam for four years and the football team for two years. Drafted out of high school as a pitcher in the fourth round of the MLB draft, TJ joined the Cleveland Indians organization. He bypassed a baseball scholarship to the University of Missouri to sign a professional contract. He did not, however, forgo higher education completely. In 2012, he earned an Associates Degree and will complete his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business with a certificate in Financial Planning this June. TJ spent five years in the Minor Leagues with the Indians and was a three-time Pitcher of the Week and started in the Class A All-star Game. He was picked up by the Baltimore Orioles in the Rule 5 draft for the 2013 season. After playing a strong spring training, he made the Orioles opening day roster. He spent five seasons with Orioles including bring part of the 2014 AL East Championship team. He was then signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017 where he was part of the Wildcard Champions.
