Frank Liston

As a Sandburg High School student, Dr. Frank Liston was the concert Band President, the National Honor Society President and was a member of the varsity wresting and track teams. After graduation, he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Luther College in Iowa where he again involved himself in music and was the varsity wrestling Conference Champion for two years. Liston went on to earn his Master's Degree and PhD from Northwestern University. He served as Stagg's Director of Bands and was the Music Department Chair. While at Stagg, he devoloped the Concert Band, Jazz Band and Marching Band which he began with 6 students. He also wrote the Stagg fight song. He has worked for several music publishing companies such as Yamaha of Australia in Melbourne. He was responsible for, and successful in, putting together a business plan to promote music education in Australia.

ABOUT US 

The District 230 Foundation is a partnership between community volunteers and school leaders to provide educational opportunities and services for students beyond what the typical budget can fund. The Foundation provides grants that bring teachers' creative ideas to life for students, as well as scholarships to graduating seniors from Sandburg, Stagg and Andrew High Schools. The District 230 Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; contributions are tax-deductible in accordance with the law.
