Tom Lahey

Tom Lahey continued his education after graduating from Stagg High School at the University of Dubuque where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Heath. He started his career at Orland Park Junior High teaching P.E. and Health, as well as coaching basketball and wrestling. He then came back to D230 to teach P.E., Health and Drivers Education at Andrew High School. In 1985, he became Dean of Students, was promoted to Head Dean and held that position for the next 21 years. For 21 of his 30 years spent at Andrew, he servced as Head Coach of Wrestling. He coached 24 individual All-State Place winnners, including 5 state champions. In 2001, Lahey was inducted into the Illinois High School Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame for all of his accomplishments. Although he retired in 2008, he remained active in District 230 filling long-term substitute positions, as needed.

ABOUT US 

The District 230 Foundation is a partnership between community volunteers and school leaders to provide educational opportunities and services for students beyond what the typical budget can fund. The Foundation provides grants that bring teachers' creative ideas to life for students, as well as scholarships to graduating seniors from Sandburg, Stagg and Andrew High Schools. The District 230 Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; contributions are tax-deductible in accordance with the law.
