A 1961 Carl Sandburg graduate, Raymond Heniff spent his professional career in the garden and the courtroom. He served as Controller, Vice President, and Treasurer for the Chicago Horticultural Society and simultaneously served as Vice President and Treasurer at the Chicago Botanic Garden. While with the Botanic Garden, he was the Project Financial Coordinator for the construction of its Educational Center and was one of the three individuals responsible for transforming the Skokie Lagoon into the Chicago Botanic Garden. In addition, he served as Business Manager and General Manager of The Chicago World Flower and Garden Show at McCormick Place. As a law firm Executive Director of five firms for more than 40 years, ranging from 30 attorneys to 250, he also held top offices in the National and Greater Chicago Association of Legal Administrators and the Law Office Managers of Chicago. In both organizations, he provided tireless educational services for Chicago law firm managers of all experience levels and their firms. Locally, he was President of the local chapter for two years and on the board for eight years, as well as Treasurer and President of Legal Office Managers of Chicago. He spoke at annual conferences, seminars, and local meetings, and authored articles for local and national newsletters. He continues to serve on the past presidents’ counsel and is authoring two manuals for use by administrators and law firm managing partners.
