Patrick Fitzgerald

Carl Sandburg High School

Class of

1993

Inducted

2008

Following graduation from Sandburg, Pat Fitzgerald headed to Northwestern University. In 1995, when Northwestern took the "Purple to Pasadena," the heart and soul of that Wildcat team was defensive standout Fitzgerald, a two-time Bronko Nagurski and Chuck Bednarik award winner. Fitzgerald now uses those same traits that made him an outstanding college player to lead Northwestern's football program as its head coach. Named one of college football's top recreuiters by SI.com in 2005, Fitzgerald played an integral role in both coaching and recruiting during his five years as a Northwestern assistant. In February 22003, Fitzgerald was inducted into Northwestern's Athletic Hall of Fame. In March 2007, he was one of 75 players up for induction into College Football's Hall of Fame.
