After graduating from Andrew High School, Dawn Dubsky went on to earn her degree in Nursing from the University of Iowa. She has always had a passion for helping people, traveling and fashion. She worked in Mexico, California, Hawaii, Colorado and Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Her love for fashion inspired her to take classes at the International Academy of Design and Technology in Chicago's Loop. Dubsky then went to Ghana in Africa to study textiles and jewelry as well as volunteer at a health clinic in 2007. While in Ghana, she contracted malaria which resulted in the amputation of all four limbs. After her personal ordeal and learning that 3,000 children die each day in Africa due to this disease, she knew she needed to help. She founded the organization, America Against Malaria. This organization raises funds for the purpose of furthering public education about this illness.
