(with John Coghill) John and Bert Coghill have a very long history with Silver Lake Country Club. The family's love for the sport of golf began with John and Bert's grandfather who moved to the area from Indiana after WWI to look for work. He was invited to play golf with a friend, fell in love with the sport and went on to build Cog-Hill Country Club in the 1920s. John and Bert's father continued the golfing tradition by creating Silver Lake Country Club and it has been part of the family for over 83 years. John and Bert have welcomed high school golfers from D230 with open arms. The Silver Lake Country Club is home to our high schools' teams and they have also hosted many Conference, IHSA, Regional and Sectional tounraments. They are also known to be environmentally active by planting thousands of trees over the past 25 years: they were awarded "Best Enviornmental Golf" award.
