2009

Kevin Clarke was an outstanding three-sport athlete, participating in football, wrestling and track while at Andrew High School. After graduation, he entered the Marine Corps Boot Camp at MCRD in San Diego, California. In his first deployment to Iraq in 2003, he was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal, and on his second deployment, promoted to Corporal. Clarke was said to be very respected by everyone around him. On February 19, 2005, his convoy was ambushed in the Al-Anbar Province of Iraq and was fatally wounded while engaging hostile insurgents in a fire fight. Through his actions, many lives were saved that day. Clarke was posthumously awarded the Navy-Marine Commendation Medal with Combat V Device for valor. We honor the supreme sacrifice he made as a soldier in protecting the freedom of all Americans.
