Danielle Carlson's passion for reporting the news started with her days as News Editor for Andrew High School's Circuit newspaper and as Statewide News Director for Youth in Government. She attended Northwestern University and graduated with a degree from the prestigious Medill School of Journalism. Carlson's career included being a foreign correspondent for eTV in South Africa, a reporter for the CBS affiliate in Kentucky, a reporter and bureau chief for the FOX affliate in California. Since 2009, she has been a reporter and multimedia journalist for the NBC affiliate in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She has been recognized for any awards including Fyffe News Management Awards, the Newton Minnow Journalism Scholarship, and the Ben Baldwwin Journalism Scholarship.

ABOUT US 

The District 230 Foundation is a partnership between community volunteers and school leaders to provide educational opportunities and services for students beyond what the typical budget can fund. The Foundation provides grants that bring teachers' creative ideas to life for students, as well as scholarships to graduating seniors from Sandburg, Stagg and Andrew High Schools. The District 230 Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; contributions are tax-deductible in accordance with the law.
