Jane Caliendo

Once graduated from Sandburg,Jane Caliendo went on to attend the University of Illinois, where she was on the swim and diving teams. She was named captain for the Illini which showed her natural leadership abilities. Following graduation, she returned to Sanburg as a physical education teacher and the girls' varsity swimming, diving and water polo coach. She has many accomplishments while coaching such as 13 Conference titles and 40 All Ameerican and All State Swimmers as swim coach, and 7 Conference titles and 12 All State Players as water polo coach. After a long, hard fight with cancer, she passed away in October 2015. She was an inspiration to the countless members of the Sandburg community. She led by example showing her students how to be a good person and good competitor.
