After graduating from Andrew High School, Dr. Catherine Bronson went on to earn her B.A. in History at St. Xavier University, graduating first in her class. Shortly after, she became interested in Arabic and Islam. Following her interest, she traveled to Damascus Syria where she studied Arabic and Islam for seven year. When sge returned, she earned two MA's and a PhD from the University of Chicago.
After graduate school, she was awarded an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation post-doctoral fellowship. She then taught for two years at Beloit College.
She is currently an Assistant Teaching Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Notre Dame. Her research and publications focus on how the interpretation and formulation of the Qur'an during the formative period of Islam influenced doctrine, culture and civilization.
