Whether it was in the classroom or as an Athletic Director, Larry Bernard spent his entire career helping students in any way he could. Bernard's dedication to the Valley View School District help put Bolingbrook Athletics on the map. A quote from his colleague stated, "He had a special way of listening to all parties and demonstrated a caring personality while maintaining a great passion for his profession." Bernard has had his Bolingbrook High School's new fitness center named after him. Just a few of his many accomplishments include Class AA Athletic Director of the Year (1993-1994), IHSA Legislation Commission (1992-2000), Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Official Association National Wrestling Hall of Fame - Medal of Courage (2004) and many more.

ABOUT US 

The District 230 Foundation is a partnership between community volunteers and school leaders to provide educational opportunities and services for students beyond what the typical budget can fund. The Foundation provides grants that bring teachers' creative ideas to life for students, as well as scholarships to graduating seniors from Sandburg, Stagg and Andrew High Schools. The District 230 Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; contributions are tax-deductible in accordance with the law.
