Brian Baldea

As Stagg High School call of 1972 graduate Brian Baldea aspired to be a baseball coach, we're certain he didn't realize that he would attain 411 victories as a coach at the University of Chicago, the most all-time victories in Chicago's 126 year history of collegiate baseball. Or that in doing so, he would surpass the win record of non other than Amos Alonzo Stagg, his high school's namesake. Brian served as Head Baseball Coach for 24 years for the Maroons. He also served as Associate Director of Athletics. As Head Coach, he coached 9 seasons in which he recorded 20 or more victories. He coached and recreuited 2 NCAA Division III All-Central Region players. He coached 31 players who garnered All-University Athletic Association honors. His legacy continues as the University of Chicago baseball association is naming their "Most Valuable Player" Award in his honor and it will be awarded for the first time this May.
