In lieu of flowers, donations to District 230 School Foundation, 15100 South 94th Avenue, Orland Park, IL  60462 in memory of Arlene are greatly appreciated.

Arlene was a graduate of Loyola University and began her teaching career at Visitation Catholic School in Chicago, marrying her husband, Paul, in 1954.  She became a Social Studies teacher at Amos Alonzo Stagg H.S. and retired as the Associate Superintendent of the High School District.

Arlene was very proud of her Irish heritage and her academic achievements.  She attended Loyola University at a time prior to the use of cafeterias.  Instead they used "tea rooms"  which personified her educated, gentile personality.  She was a lover of the arts, education and all things elegant.  As her friends reflect, she represented a generation of smart women in the workplace who broke many glass ceilings with her wit, charm and honesty.  She wasn't afraid of fighting for what she believed in and you always knew exactly how she felt.   And she stood by those beliefs for a lifetime.
